CENTRE RECENT UPDATES
Athabasca & District Seniors Society Newsletter January 22, 2026
The Board met twice this month. Much of the meetings were spent dealing with revising some of our forms and planning for our upcoming AGM. Last month we applied for two grants from Healthy Aging Alberta. We expect to hear back by February 9. Revenues exceeded our expenses for the year by approximately $900.
We held our annual members holiday potluck last month and approximately 50 attended. Our bus trip to the Muttart Conservatory and Candy Cane Lane last month had to be cancelled because the Lincoln County bus was in an accident and it is no longer roadworthy.
We had to close the Seniors Centre for a week (Jan 7–13) in order to have the inside front entry, kitchen, pantry, and bathroom floors resurfaced. In the summer, we plan on having the outside front entry resurfaced. As mentioned in my email yesterday, art classes begin on Thursday, Jan 22 from 1–3:30 and are held every other Thursday (e.g., Feb 5, 19, March 5 . . .) for 10 sessions. It was decided to only hold floor curling on the 2nd Monday of each month, instead of the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month for the time being. Our next casino is scheduled for Feb 8–9.
Our annual AGM is scheduled for Friday, February 20. Soup and sandwiches will be provided starting at 12:30, followed by the meeting at 1:15.
Our next Pancake Breakfast will be Tuesday, January 27. Hope you can make it. Last month, 66 people attended our breakfast.
